AP Physics C: Mechanics

Mechanics is a calculus-based, college-level physics course, especially suited to students planning to major in engineering, physics, or another physical science. Unlike the algebra-based AP Physics 1, every unit here assumes real fluency with calculus — velocity as the derivative of position, work by a variable force as a definite integral, simple harmonic motion as the solution to a differential equation. That shift from algebraic manipulation to calculus-based derivation is where many strong math students still get caught off guard.

AP Physics C: Mechanics Tutoring

One-on-One Support for a Calculus-Based Physics Course

AP Physics C: Mechanics is a calculus-based, college-level physics course, especially suited to students planning to major in engineering, physics, or another physical science. Our tutors at Growing Stars build both the calculus technique and the physical reasoning clearly, step by step, using the student’s own course material.

Our expert tutors focus on core concepts, calculus-based problem-solving, and clear physical reasoning, helping students build the skills they need for the AP exam and for college-level physics beyond it.

What You Will Learn

AP course content and exam formats may be updated from time to time. Refer to the College Board website for the most up-to-date information.

Why Families Choose Growing Stars for AP Physics C: Mechanics Tutoring

At Growing Stars, we know that every student approaches calculus-based physics differently. Our expert tutors personalize each session to the student’s course pace, learning goals, and areas of difficulty, rather than following a fixed script.

Sessions follow the student’s course notes, textbook, and upcoming assessments, supported by our library of practice questions, worked examples, and past-exam style materials. Because sessions are one-on-one, tutors can spend as much time as needed on the concept causing trouble — whether that’s setting up an integral for work done by a variable force, deriving an equation of motion for simple harmonic motion, or finding the moment of inertia of a continuous object.

Sessions take place online, so students can join from home, a study space, or anywhere with an internet connection.

Program Features

  • Live Sessions on an Interactive Platform: Live classroom sessions with expert tutors are conducted through an interactive platform with a user-interactive whiteboard, audio and video, screen sharing, chat, homework tools, progress monitoring, and a parent portal. These features support effective learning, personalized instruction, communication, and easy progress tracking.
  • Customized Learning Materials: Students receive learner-specific study materials, practice questions, review materials, and additional resources aligned with their AP course requirements and learning needs.
